Amid National Cuts to Arts Education, Off-Broadway Becomes a Lifeline for Young Performers in
“Are You the Next Showstopper?!”
As federal funding for the arts continues to be slashed at alarming rates, the N’Kenge Foundation is giving young performers the opportunity of a lifetime. On Saturday, May 17 at 3:00 PM, Are You the Next Showstopper?! takes over Theatre 555, providing a bold, high-stakes platform for emerging artists—and making a powerful statement about the urgency of investing in arts education.
Produced by Michael T. Clarkston (Jerey Boys, Wonderama) and N’Kenge (Tony, Emmy & Grammy-nominated star of Motown: The Musical and Caroline, or Change), this dynamic talent competition is presented by the N’Kenge Foundation, in partnership with the Big Apple Talent Competition. The event features 18 finalists competing in three age divisions—Middle/High School, College, and Post-College (ages 12–30)—for a series of prestigious honors:
