JIM FRIEDLANDER
BOARD MEMBER
Jim Friedlander is a US qualified lawyer with over 57 years of international experience in advising on major investment projects and financial transactions around the world. After graduating from the Harvard Law School, Jim served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malawi, teaching high school and then organizing sports. In his business career, Jim developed an understanding of how to structure business transactions in emerging markets where he lived for 21 years (Malawi, Kenya & Russia). Jim has experience in private and public international finance with Citibank, NMB Bank (Zimbabwe) and the IBRD. He served as a non-executive director of the International Eye Foundation (Bethesda), NMBZ Holdings (Zimbabwe), and Franconia Minerals Corporation (Canada). Jim also worked for 36 years as a consultant to the IFC and the World Bank, advising governments of over 30 countries in Africa, Eastern Europe and the Caribbean on the legal aspects of attracting foreign investment. He currently serves as a non-executive director for E.AI (Dubai), Sequoia Portal (California) and Tana Biomass Generation (Kenya). He has been a partner in several law firms worldwide: Akin Gump; Korelskiy, Ischuk, Astafiev & Partners (KIAP); Duncan and Allen; Mitchell, Friedlander & Gittleman; Friedlander & Associates and MP & Associates.
